Lilly blinked a couple of times until she could focus on where she was. Then she remembered and could feel him; she was wrapped around her mate like a snake, and it felt great. And warm.

“Morning, my love.” Sindrid’s voice was rough and gravelly. She looked up into his eyes. She could tell he was ready again, and she was too, but then the phone started ringing.

They continued to stare at each other until the phone rang again. This time Lilly’s phone joined in.

“Something might be wrong. Is Gabriel here? Did they come back in? What if something’s happened to him?” She could feel herself getting scared. She searched for her phone; it was somewhere on the ground, but she couldn’t find it.

“Calm down, baby. They’re back, I heard them come in around four this morning. I’m sure Gabriel is still asleep.” Sindrid’s phone started ringing again. He picked it up and answered, “Hello.”

Lilly watched as Sindrid frowned. “I’ll be there in a few.” She wanted to know what was going on.

“That was Jonas. Apparently someone else has been taken. This time it was Emerson Prescott. They found her car on the side of the road, a little ways down from where her father’s house is. Now her father is here at the lodge. He’s pretty upset.”

“Oh no. What’s going on? Who is doing this and why? We have to do something!”

“We will, baby. I promise, we’ll figure this out and help out everyone who’s been taken. Let’s get in the shower and then go downstairs. They need our help.”

Lilly got up. She had to check on Gabriel first. “I’ll be right back, I’ve got to check on Gabriel.” Sindrid just smiled as she pulled on her dress and walked out of his bedroom.

She looked back into the living room to see if anyone was up, but it was empty. She walked slowly down to Gabriel’s bedroom and peeked inside. He was still asleep, but she walked into his room and covered him back up. She already loved this child, and she was so afraid that they’d come for him. She couldn’t rest until they caught these evil sons-of-bitches and Gabriel was safe.

She picked up his clothes, folded them up and put them on the dresser, then left to go take her shower. As she was coming out, she saw Joseph fully dressed and sitting in the living room typing on a laptop.

He looked over at her and smiled. “Morning, Lilly.”

“Good morning, Joseph.”

“Checking on Gabriel?”

“Yeah. Do you remember them talking about the Unit’s new team member, Emerson Prescott?”

Joseph put the laptop back on the table, then stood up and moved toward her. He nodded with a worried look on his face.

“Well, she’s been kidnapped. Her car was found down the road from where her father lived. He’s here now, wanting to talk to the Unit. We’re going down in a few minutes, to see what we can do to help. Something has to be done. That poor girl; God only knows what they’re doing to her.
